     Case Study

Design and Prototype of a micro-finance app

Hello Everyone! During my time at Utiva design school, I was opportune to work as the Team-lead with a team of 5 to solve a case study using the VFD app to provide solutions to the problem.

    Problem

    1)  Lack of saving culture in entrepreneurs(Business Men and Women)
Startup entrepreneurs are always under the pressure to spend and this lack of saving attitude has crippled the ability of many companies to scale and grow . A few people would debate that growth has nothing to do with saving, others would say that running out of cash is predominantly an outcome of lack of savings for businesses.

    Target Audience

    Entrepreneurs (Business Men and Women)

    CONRIBUTION
As the team lead it was my duty to make sure my teammate understood what we were meant to do, how we would go about the task and also checking up on the progress of their work.
First, we carried out user research by sending out questionnaire through the internet to get answers about the reason why people save, how VFD can help their business, where they got investment information  etc..
After the breakdown of the result we got from the questionnaires, we made a user persona that will help bring the result to life, then we made our empathy map showing how the user feels, what he says, does and think about the  proposal VFD is putting in place to help improve their business and saving culture. We used user journey to show the process of using VFD app consisting of the series of actions performed to achieve our goal.
After compiling all the results, we went on to make a redesign of the app, adding the solutions  we had proposed to the design of VFD app . I worked on the splash screen, sign up page, contact page and also the profile page while my teammate worked on analytics page, payment page , feed screen.

    SOLUTION
To improve the saving culture of Entrepreneurs we offer the following solutions:
    1) Offer businesses the option to save : VFD will  offer the option of saving a certain percentage of the income received from the entrepreneur's customers and the money saved with VFD bank can be withdrawn at any point or invested by VFD, at which the investor will get returns at a stipulated period of time.
    2) VFD using the app will their users track their expenditure, providing payment gateway which entrepreneurs customer's can use to pay for goods they buy.
    3) VFD will provide essential advice services to entrepreneurs.
